Llangadog is a historic rural settlement within the Tywi Valley, with part of the village designated as a Conservation Area and protected by an Article 4 Direction.
Older properties within and around the village can incorporate solid masonry walls, traditional finishes, suspended timber floors and construction intended to manage moisture very differently from modern cavity-wall housing.
Understanding that construction is important when investigating damp. Cement render, dense pointing, impermeable coatings, dry-lining and replacement floors can alter the way traditional masonry absorbs and releases moisture.

Cement render, modern coatings, dry-lining and replacement floors are considered where alterations may have changed the original moisture behaviour of the building.
Timber & Ventilation
Suspended floors, concealed timbers, sub-floor ventilation and internal humidity are considered where prolonged moisture could contribute to timber deterioration or mould growth.
