Understanding moisture in
Llanon's building fabric.
Llanon contains a mixture of traditional village properties and later housing in a setting extending from the coastal plain towards the surrounding Ceredigion countryside.
Older properties may incorporate solid masonry walls and traditional finishes that manage moisture differently from modern cavity-wall construction. Their condition needs to be considered in relation to the original fabric rather than assuming that elevated moisture automatically requires a damp-proofing treatment.
Later alterations can significantly affect this balance. Dense cement render, impermeable coatings, modern internal plaster, replacement floors and some insulation systems may change how moisture evaporates from or moves through traditional walls.
